The business was born 10 years ago, by fluke, while one of the partners, Caren, was a college student backpacking through Europe. She bought a leather backpack for herself in Italy at a Florence Flea Market. Caren then went to Greece and saw tons of amazing natural leather book bags, but didn't have enough money to purchase one. After returning home to San Diego State University it turned out her roommate had bought her favorite leather book bag from Greece! While alternating between her backpack and her roommate's book bag she received loads of compliments. She and then boyfriend Dave, now husband and business partner began importing these natural leather book bags from Greece. Dave decided everyone loved them so much that he quit his job in mortgage banking and eventually Caren quit her job as a music assistant on In Living Color. Driving around to different college campuses weekly selling these bags from Greece, they began to build their nest egg to expand their business. After opening their first cart in Topanga Plaza in 1994 under the name Naturally Yours Leather Bags, they realized they had a winning idea.
Now the couple has two beautiful locations in The Commons at Calabasas and Westlake Village.
